So ………… I’m not really popping my knuckles these days. And I’m not sure, but maybe it has something to do with that picture. You know, the image of those disfigured hands. For some reason, I can’t get those hands out of my head. It’s like they’re just sitting there, staring me in the face. So if you’re like me, you need a distraction—fast. That way, we can clear our minds … and then get back to making some real music.
Of course, the best way to do this is to think about something nice … you know, like a cake. And not just any cake. We need something really cool—like this:

Yeah, this picture should work. It’s kind of a weird design. But only a fellow music lover would go to this much trouble. I don’t know the baker, but they did a pretty good job. Check out the keyboard around the rim. And those musical notes … now that’s sweet. I can almost smell the cake now.
I’m guessing this recipe called for one (1) cup of flour, three (3) cups of sugar, and five (5) pounds of pure music nerdiness. And there … what do you know? I’ve already forgotten about those hands. So now, let’s move on and look at major scales. Only this time, we can use our new friend—music notation.
