da Vinci
Right now, I’m reading an excellent book called “Leonardo: The First Scientist” by Michael White.
I already knew it, but da Vinci was basically awesome. And this book has a lot of information that’s new to me. Like, did you know that Leonardo wrote over 13,000 pages of notes over his lifetime … but only half of them remain?! In other words, w e’ve lost over 7,000 pages of his ideas. Painful—I know.
Anyway, Leonardo da Vinci was the classic Renaissance Man. He was an innovator in both art and science. And this book I’m reading has a great description of how his mind worked. It’s really true:
“At the leading edge of science, the division between mathematics, art, and imagination becomes blurred.”
In other words, Leonardo understood that art and science are the same … there’s really no difference between them. And what’s awesome is this totally applies to music, too. Art (color) and science (music) are exactly the same. Which is why Color Music blows my mind. I never would have thought you could see sound. But I’m very glad you can.
