Make a Color Music® t-shirt

Topic:

Make a Color Music® t-shirt.

Supplies:

  • One (1) iron-on sheet (Some press-on kits use a mirror-image graphic. Others use a regular image. Make sure you buy a press-on kit that uses a regular image. We used June Tailor’s “Art-Wear” packet from Michael’s craft store.)
  • Color ink-jet printer (not a laser printer or copier)
  • Color Music® logo PDF (open on your computer—http://mycolormusic.com/shop/free-stuff/)
  • Scissors
  • Plain white cotton t-shirt
  • One (1) sheet of parchment paper (ours came with the iron-on kit)
  • Ordinary hand iron (no steam)
  • Smooth hard surface (that can take high heat)
  • * Adult supervision is required *

Activity:

Do you have any music t-shirts? I have a shirt with a picture of The Beatles on it. My nephew, Luke, has a t-shirt with a picture of Justin Bieber (!) on it. Music t-shirts are cool. So let’s make one.

(Be sure to follow the instructions of your own press-on kit. We show the general process in the following steps.)

First, check that you have all your supplies.

1. Place one iron-on sheet in your computer printer.

Next, print the Color Music® logo onto the sheet.

2. Using your scissors, cut a circle around the Color Music logo.

3. Now, lay your plain t-shirt flat and face up on a smooth surface. Great! Now peel off the iron-on’s backing and place the logo face up on the t-shirt.

4. Cover the entire logo with a piece of parchment paper.

5. Then carefully press a hot iron over the parchment paper.

6. Wait a couple of minutes to let the paper cool. Then slowly peel off the parchment paper. How does it look?

7. Last, put on your new t-shirt. And then let’s make some music!
