North Carolina

So … we just got back from North Carolina, and it’s a really cool place. Just decided to go on vacation to check it out. And I have to say, it’s super green — seriously. Trees, trees, and more trees everywhere. It felt a lot like being in the movie, “Honey I Shrunk The Kids.”

What is your language?

So, I’m kind of curious … what is your native language? These days, we have a lot of readers in different countries. Which means I’m guessing some of you speak English … or Spanish … or French … or German, Japanese, Dutch, Polish, Italian … or one of many other languages out there. But the nice thing

Quiz #9

Okay … pop quiz: What are the two (2) coolest states in America? Are they: a) Hawaii and Rhode Island b) Texas and Massachusetts c) Tennessee and Lousiana Well, if you ask me, the answer is “option C,” without a doubt. And I’ll tell you why. Because these states have their priorities straight. (On music,

What you see is what you get

So … recently, my sweetie and I took a very cool trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. And while we were there, we visited a classic spot called “Colter Bay”—which is about 30 miles south of Yellowstone National Park. I say it’s classic because my family went there many times when I was a kid. It’s got

Mosaic patterns

I may have mentioned this before … but M.C. Escher was a genius. Seriously, it’s like he had some kind of x-ray vision that let him see things in a totally unique way. When he looked at the world, he definitely saw it as a bunch of patterns. I mean, how else could someone draw a

Quiz #4

So … it’s 2010 now. And the next decade is going to be awesome. The music we’re making these days is really good, too … like the newest wave in an ocean of sound. Every new song we hear is influenced—in some way—by the music of yesterday. Which has got me thinking … what are

Let it snow!

Let’s face it—snow is unnatural. It might be nice for sleigh rides and skiing. But living in it is something else. Right now, it’s about 486 degrees below zero, the snow keeps falling, and there’s not a snowplow in sight. But hey, there’s still something magical about snow, right? Which is why there are so

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Wow. I learned a lot about country music this weekend. My wife and I vacationed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, which has a very classic western vibe. The downtown area has wooden sidewalks and railings. And there are some old-west saloons, tons of antler decorations, and a lot of cowboy pictures everywhere. It’s a beautiful place.

Quiz #1

Since we’ve been looking at the chromatic scale a lot lately, maybe it would be nice to stop for a moment and take a little quiz. That way, we can stretch our hands, rub our eyes, and think about something else for a change. After all, we don’t want to go crazy, do we? What if we even
